
Having a lovely porcelain dial with coloured lettering marking the weather predictions, along with the maker's name, Mappin Brothers 66 Cheapside E C London Circa 1885, the porcelain dial is sat behind a bevelled edge glass, mounted in a polished brass bezel with a centre reading marker, also having a porcelain thermometer scale above with mercury action thermometer fabulous hand carved decoration to the quarter sawn solid oak casing, with superb patina and deep shine of many years of polish, Mappin Brothers was a British silverware and cutlery firm, established in Sheffield in the mid-19th century, with a significant presence in London, the company was founded by the Mappin family, with roots tracing back to Jonathan Mappin's workshop in 1775, Mappin Brothers eventually became part of Mappin & Webb, another prominent silversmithing company, in 1902, the dimensions are 31cms wide 91cms tall, I am happy to deliver locally for a small fee, or pack and post nationally, please feel free to visit our new showroom in Bretherton
