A charming and wonderfully characterful 19th Century English antique ash rocking chair, dating to the reign of King George IV, circa 1830. Originating from Lancashire, this lovely country chair has a particularly appealing traditional design, combining simplicity with some beautifully crafted details. The chair features a spindle back with central carved wooden balls, elegant shaped arms, a traditional rush seat, and turned front legs and stretchers, all terminating in graceful wooden rockers. What really makes this chair special is its fabulous aged wear and patina. It has clearly been lovingly cared for throughout its long life, retaining the honest marks, mellow colour and character that only come with genuine age and years of use. The result is a wonderfully authentic and inviting piece of English furniture. A superb chair for a country house, cottage or period interior, and equally charming simply displayed as a decorative antique.
