An outstanding example of early 19th-century cabinet making.
Crafted from solid mahogany and beautifully figured mahogany veneers, this elegant cabinet is richly embellished with fine boxwood stringing and satinwood banding. The decoration is exceptional, featuring exquisite inlaid panels of floral swags, cornucopia, and a central fan motif, all further enhanced with delicate pen and ink detailing, demonstrating the remarkable craftsmanship for which Allen & Appleyard were renowned.
The cabinet features a single glazed central door, flanked on either side by two other glazed panels having twenty one glazed panels in total with original glass, complete with its working lock and key, opening to reveal a shelved, lined interior, glazed sides to allow in more light to display fine china, glassware, collectables, or treasured antiques. The whole piece stands gracefully on elegant tapering inlaid legs, giving it a refined and timeless appearance.
